Mahina HUD, from the Hawaiian word meaning “moon,” is an augmented reality app built for visionOS. It provides a heads-up display (HUD) environment focused on near real-time speech-to-text (STT) active subtitling, translation, and text processing, creating a foundation for natural language augmentation. These features are designed to enhance communication and accessibility for learners, educators, individuals with accessibility needs, and everyday users.

Currently in the alpha testing stage, Mahina’s development roadmap includes future additions such as handwriting tools for learning and feedback, text recognition, navigation, and advanced machine learning capabilities. While optimized for visionOS, plans are also in motion to bring Mahina to Android XR and other Linux-based platforms.
